The Heinz Empire (August 2006)
24 August 2006
René Windig and Eddie de Jong opened their new exposition, 'The Heinz-Imperium', at Galerie Lambiek on Thursday, the 24th of August, at 6:00 pm.
On this festive occasion they presented two new books: Heinz 24 - 'Sokko moet naar Krokko' and 'Beffen-ijf', the adventures of Sliske and her friends.
Windig and De Jong started their careers as the comix duo Gezellig en Leuk ('Cozy and Nice'), at first creating funny parodies of Dutch classic comics like 'Oom Wim', 'Donald Duck' and 'Dick Bos', followed by Heinz, their all-Dutch comix cat with a temper. 'Heinz' appeared in numerous Dutch newspapers and achieved great popularity with now more than 23 comic albums, as well as appearing on the front page of our website.
Besides original sketches, drawings and comic strip panels, there were recent paintings and amusing bric-a-brac to amaze your eyes. Both artists attended the opening and signed a lot of their art and books for the happy crowd.
A lot of lovely artwork is still for sale, and there is the option of having your favorite comic strip artwork framed upon request. The exposition lasted until the end of October 2006.
