Alphonse Bare worked as a comic book artist in the 1940s, drawing through studios by Otto O. Binder and Gibson. He drew for Fawcett's 'Bulletman', 'Captain Midnight' and 'Golden Arrow', and also created funny animal and cartoon festures. For Street & Smith, he drew 'Blackstone', 'Doc Savage', 'Red Dragon' and 'The Shadow'.

Bare worked on war stories for Hillman Periodicals and Magazine Enterprises. He drew for 'Boy Champions' by Spark Publications. In late 1940s and early 1950s, he was mainly doing romance stories for Fawcett, Harvey and Lev Gleason. Between 1947 and 1949, he created a syndicated feature called 'Top Hat'. In the 1960s, he was a ghost artist on J.P. McEvoy and John Striebel's 'Dixie Dugan' for the McNaught Syndicate.
