Fred Burton took several art courses, but eventually became a bartender. In his spare time, he drew decorations and attended several comic festivals. He did some advertising jobs and worked as a storyboard and lay-out artist. He was contacted by writer Jean Wacquet to begin the comic series 'Coleman Wallace' at Soleil Productions. He was also the colorist of 'Toute une Vie' by Claude Lelouch and Bernard Swysen. At Éditions Jungle, he launched the 'Fort Boyard' comic, based on the French TV game show of the 1990s. Burton was founder and head of the Page Blanche atelier, where he taught young artists the finer points of the profession. Fred Burton died in April 2006.
