Paolo Chiarini was initially trained as a dental technician and then worked for a firm of architects. It wasn't until later in life before he embarked upon a career in comics, his great passion. He worked alongside Magnus on 'Kriminal', 'Satanik' and 'Alan Ford', and it was for the latter that he inked drawings by Piffarerio when Magnus ceased working on the publication.
He also completed three 'Alan Ford' albums (volumes 175, 178 & 181), working in pencil and Indian ink. Chiarini drew full page illustrations for the piquant comic series 'Fata Chiusina', 'Sexy Favole' and 'La Strega Tascabile' published by Geis in 1974, and then went on to concentrate on political satires with the weeklies Zut and 18 Colonne. During the 1980's he worked for the Bologna Fair, where he remained until his untimely death.
