Raoh by Rold
'Raoh'.

Rold was the pen name of a mid-20th century French comic artist called Roland Colomb. He was only active as a cartoonist for a short while, flourishing in the 1950s and 1960s, and exclusively for the daily sports newspaper L'Équipe. Roland Colomb should not be confused with another French comic artist who also used the pen name Rold, but who was drawing humorous comic strips like 'Les Tribulations de Minouche' and 'Pomme d'Api' in the period 1950-1957.

Life and career
Between 1955 and 1957, L'Équipe ran five stories in 815 strips of jungle adventurer 'Raoh'. Drawn by Roland Colomb, the stories were written by Martin Bach and later by Robert Poc. In 1961 and 1962, the signature of Rold appeared once again, this time with an adaptation of the motor racing novel 'The Green Helmet' by the Australian author John Cleary. Rold's 'Le Pilote au Casque Vert' abruptly ended in mid-story on 9 February 1962, leaving it a mystery why his career was suddenly broken off. No additional information about Colomb's life after this date is available.
