Illustrator and caricaturist Draner was born as Jules Renard in Liège, Belgium, as the son of a printer. He found employment with the Société des Zincs de la Vieille-Montagne, while he also produced cartoons for local magazines like Uylenspiegel. In 1861, he settled in Paris, where he began collaborations with magazines like Le Charivari, L'Éclipse, Paris-Comique, L'Illustration, Le Monde Illustré and Le Journal Pour Rire.
'Comment Elles Se Couchent', Le Charivari.
In 1879 he succeeded Cham as the author of the topical cartoon about Paris in Le Charivari. He was later succeeded himself by Henriot. Draner additionally designed theater costumes, among others for the plays of Jacques Offenbach. He was specialized in military caricatures.
