Kobus Knol en Thijs Slof (Roomse Jeugd, 1948)
The youngest of the three artistic Funke Küpper brothers, Frans' career evolved similarly to that of his brother Theo. Starting in advertising, he was employed by publisher De Spaarnestad as a freelance illustrator and comics writer for Catholic children's magazines. Frans Funke developed himself as a skillful comic artist, mastering both schematic and realistic styles.
Jan Jokkebrok (Rooms Jeugd, 1948)
From 1937 to 1942, he drew several continuing stories for Weekblaadje voor de Roomse Jeugd, such as 'Pukkie's Grote Avontuur', 'De Tweelingbroers Jan en Jaap Goochem gaan Rentenieren', 'Kobus Knol en z'n Ros', 'De Strijd om Kruger's Millioenen', 'De 12 Ambachten en 13 Ongelukken van Thijs Slof' and 'Het Duo Kobus Knol en Thijs Slof op Avontuur'. He was also present in Roomse Jeugd with 'Kobus Knol en Thijs Slof op Avontuur' (1946-1952) and 'Het Geheim van de Vliegende Schotel' (1952-1953). After the War, he was mainly active as a painter.
