Carlos Grangel Gómez began his career drawing for European comic publishers through studios like Sanchís Bonet, Comicup and Comicon in Barcelona. Between 1981 and 1983, he has drawn comics for the German magazines Fix und Foxi (Kauka) and Knax, as well as the Swedish weekly Skoj. In addition, he worked for the Spanish publishers Druida and Bruguera on series like 'Tom & Jerry', 'Yogi Bear' and 'The Flintstones', as well as 'Andy & Charly' in JAuJA.

After completing his military service, Grangel illustrated 'Winnie the Pooh' stories for the Danish publisher Gutenberghus (1984-86), followed by 'Br'er' Rabbit' stories for the Dutch Donald Duck weekly (Disney, 1986-90). During this period, he also drew new Kauka comics for Pabel Verlag. In addtion, he made illustrations for children's books and greeting cards.

By 1990, Grangel focused on animation, with much success. He has worked with Steven Spielberg and Tim Burton, and has participated in the character design on movies like 'The Prince of Egypt', 'Shrek' and Tim Burton's 'Corpse's Bride'. He has lived and worked in Los Angeles, London and Munich, but he eventually prefered his native city Barcelona.
