Lonneke Leever is a Dutch illustrator, specializing in paper cut-out art, created for clients like Hema, Sesamstraat and De Volkskrant. She has also been a comic colorist for the magazines Donald Duck and Tina.

Family background
Lonneke Leever and her twin sister Kelly were born on 1 December 1987 in the city of Arnhem. Their father is the comic artist Gerard Leever, their mother the comic colorist Wilma Leenders. When they were teenagers, Lonneke and Kelly Leever served as inspiration for their father's new gag comic about twin sisters 'Suus & Sas' (2001- ), published in girls' magazine Tina. Along with her siblings - besides sister Kelly she also has a musician brother Daan - Lonneke Leever followed in her mother's footsteps and became a comic colorist for the Disney weekly Donald Duck. In addition, she has been the regular colorist of the gag comic 'Noortje' by Patty Klein and Jan Steeman for Tina. Her husband since 2015, Mathys van der Harst, has been collaborating with his father-in-law Gerard Leever on comic scripts for both Donald Duck and Eppo.

Illustrator
Graduated from the Zwolle Art Academy in 2010, Lonneke Leever has been working as a freelance comic colorist and illustrator. Prior to her graduation, in 2007, she was already working as the artist of 'Pompom' picture stories in the educational pre-school magazine Rompompom by the publishing house Zwijssen. The character was originally created by Marjolein Krijger. Based in Arnhem, Leever has specialized in creating illustrations and portraits made from paper cut-out art. Her laborious working method starts with a sketch. After picking the pieces of paper with the right colors, she begins to cut out shapes, which she pastes together until her composition appears. Then the finished piece of art is photographed, followed by some final adjustments on the computer.
