Manboou, whose real name is Audrey Fasquel, was born in Calais. She is a graduate from the Academy of Fine Arts in Tournai. In 1999 she created the fanzine Freestyle, which she filled completely with her own manga-inspired work. After winning a prize with her fanzine, she got in touch with the publishing house Delcourt. In 2005, she made her album debut with 'Fred et Sophie', a comic with two characters she had already created for her fanzine. A second album followed in 2006. She also made illustrations for educational material and developed the pirate comic 'Les Portes du Ciel' with her Academy companion Rémi (Delcourt, 2007).
In 2008 and 2009 she made three black-and-white small format books of the social chronicle 'R', all in the manga spirit, for Dargaud. Then came the one-shot 'Journal d'une baleine' with Aqua Lumina Éditions in 2009 and the romantic comedy 'Comme ton ombre' with Patricia Lyfoung in Soleil's Strawberry collection. She made adaptations of the Countess of Ségur novel 'Les Malheurs de Sophie' and 'Les Petites Filles Modèles' with Maxe L'Hermenier for Vents d'Ouest in 2012-2013, and she drew the first book of the comic adaptation of Alexa Young's books series 'Meilleures ennemies' for Miss Jungle. She made the comic series 'Playlist' for Okapi magazine, and it has been published in books under the BDKids label by Bayard. Manboou lives and works in Brittany.
