Scott Meyer is an American artist, comedian and writer from Florida. He toured the US as a stand-up comedian for twelve years before turning to cartooning. He started his webcomic 'Basic Instructions' to entertain people who came to his website looking to hire a comedian. The strip has expanded since then, and now gives a guide to probably everything you can think of. The strip has been available on LiveJournal since 2003, and has been collected in a couple of books by Dark Horse Books and by Scott himself.
