Dirk Michiels founded the studios Mormic with Luc Morjaeu in the mid-1980s. The studios produced art for commercial purposes, and for the comics 'Jacobus en Corneel', 'Pingu' and 'Erik of het Klein Insectenboek'. The cooperation with Morjaeu ended in 1997, and Michiels started drawing comics for Suske en Wiske Weekblad. With Marc Legendre, he made a short story of 'Sam' and the series 'Het Scream-team' in 1999-2000. He also helped Swerts and Vanas on the inking of backgrounds. He moved to Canada in 2000, where he does illustrations for among others children's books and coloring books.
