Er zij licht by Hans Pieko
Er zij licht (De Vrije Balloen #9)

Hans Pieko is a Dutch illustrator and designer, best-known for his illustration work for science fiction and fantasy books. Originally from Amsterdam, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arnhem. He has worked in several artistic disciplines, making murals, puppets for museums and theater props. In the second half of the 1970s, he published comic stories in the alternative comic magazines De Vrije Balloen and Gummi. In 1981, he was present with more comic stories in the four issues of Krypton, the sci-fi magazine he made with Hendrik J. Vos.

From the late 1980s until 1994, Pieko and Vos were both members of the final incarnation of the legendary comics group Studio Arnhem, together with original member Ben Jansen and Ronald van Vemden. With the latter, he later formed the illustration duo Pieko & Van Vemden. Pieko initially made his illustrations with the airbrush technique, but he eventually moved over to digital drawing under the name Wetbyte Illustrations.
