The Norwegian artist Solveig Muren Sanden studied art in Oslo, where she began her career as an illustrator in Norsk Barneblad in 1932. As a young girl, she was trained by Norwegian illustrator and painter Louis Moe. She took over the comic series 'Tuss og Troll' and 'Smørbukk' from the artist Jens R. Nilssen in the magazine Norsk Barneblad. 'Smørbukk' was created in 1938, and Sanden drew about 60 episodes with the character in the period 1957-1981. 'Smørbukk' was continued by Håkon Aasnes from 1983. In 1973 she was the first recipient of Norwegian Ministry of Culture's comics prize.
