Early life
Andreas Schuster was born in 1980 in Frankenthal in southwestern Germany, and studied design at the Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences. His passion for drawing and telling stories was fuelled by reading Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny's 'Astérix' comics, the 'Donald Duck' stories of Carl Barks and the manga of Akira Toriyama. After an internship at the Helioscope comic studio in Portland, Oregon, he was not ready to go home and instead went to Canada, where he eventually met his wife. Based in Canada since early 2010, he first lived in Toronto and then settled in the Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville suburb of Montreal, Quebec.

Creative career
Schuster began his career as a storyboard artist for film and television, working for clients like Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Netflix. Among his credits have been TV series like 'The Powerpuff Girls', 'Creative Galaxy', 'Hilda' and 'Big Blue'. Initially, making comics was a side project, but when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, he became a full-time comic creator. Although based in Canada, his production has been international.

In 2014 and 2015, Schuster illustrated three children's books with the outer space adventures of 'Käpt'n Kaos' by Thomas Klischke for the German publisher Oetinger. His early comics were made for Nickelodeon Magazine, drawing stories based on the 'Harvey Beaks' TV series, about a friendly bird and his two imp friends. Several of these stories were collected in book format by Papercutz. By the time he switched to full time cartooning, Schuster focused on working with his own creations. In addition to children's comics, he has been posting autobiographical cartoons and comic strips on social media, sometimes in the funny animal format, under the title 'Fresh Popcorn Comics'..

Toby and the Pixies - 'Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow' (The Phoenix #427, 7 March 2020).

Toby and the Pixies
Since January 2020, Schuster has been working for the British monthly magazine The Phoenix, where he co-created the zany slapstick feature 'I Hate Pixies' with writer James Turner. Eventually known as 'Toby and the Pixies', the comic stars the shy and anxious schoolboy Toby, who accidentally becomes king of a pixie kingdom at the bottom of his garden. Much to the boy's embarrassment and frustration, these chaos-creating magical critters cause havoc for Toby at home and at school with their ridiculously silly powers. The magazine's publisher DFB Phoenix has also released the stories in book format.

'Klara und Anton'.

Klara und Anton
Since 2023, Andreas Schuster also joined the German magazine Primax with his comic series 'Klara und Anton', about two kids who suddenly find themselves owning a grand but mysterious Manor on an even grander Estate.
