Dori Seda was one of the pioneers of the autobiographical comics genre in the American underground comix. She started her career in comics when she was hired by Last Gasp publisher Ron Turner to do the bookkeeping for the company. She published her autobiographical stories in several comics and anthologies, such as Wimmen's Comix, Rip-Off Comix, Tits 'n Clits and Weirdo. Dori's only full-length solo book was 'Lonely Nights Comics: Stories To Read When the Couple Next Door Is Fucking Too Loud'. Most of her stories are filled with wildly degenerate behavior with Dori right at the center of the maelstrom.
Due to her unhealthy lifestyle, full of drugs, booze and cigarettes, Dori Seda sadly passed away much too early - in February 1988, at the age of 37, she died of respiratory failure. Dori Seda's work is collected in 'Dori Stories' (1999), which also includes memorial essays by her friends and lovers.
