Hélio Senatore is a Brazilian comic artist and illustrator from São Paulo. In the early 1980s, he made several comics for Brazilian Disney magazines, many of which starred 'Jose Carioca'.
Life and career
Originally from the municipality of Santa Bárbara D'Oeste, Hélio Senatore studied at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. In the early 1980s he was part of a new wave of pencilers working for the local story production of Disney comics by Editora Abril, alongside Seung Joo Kang, Ernesto Y. Miyaura and Paulo Renato da Costa Noely. However, his stint was short-lived, as he only worked on about only a dozen stories with 'José Carioca' in the period 1982-1984.
Since then, Senatore has worked as an illustrator for a variety of children's products. He has made illustrations and infographics for schoolbooks and other educational publications of Editora do Brasil, Editora Ibep Nacional and Editora Anglo, and was a designer for toy manufacturer Estrela, and an illustrator of editorial pages, activity sections and puzzles for the children's magazines Revista Recreio and Revista Eliana.
