Aluir Amâncio started working in the staff of the Mauricio de Sousa studios, where he redesigned the 'Tina' character, making her more sexy. He began working for the Brazilian production of Disney comics for publishers Abril around 1987.
He did mainly Duck ('Pato Donald') and 'José Carioca' (Zé Carioca') stories. Later on, he became the regular artist on DC's 'Superman Adventures' title, a comic based on the Superman TV show (inks by Terry Austin). He also did the mini-series 'Superman: Strength'.
