John (or Johnny or Jack) Devlin worked as an assistant to Rube Goldberg. He took over the newspaper strip 'Looy Dot Dope' from Milt Gross in 1930. He was succeeded by Bernard Dibble in 1935. Other daily credits include 'Honey Dear'. He also did fillers for the comic books of Quality Comics, such as Crack Comics, Feature Comics and Police Comics, featuring among others Ruth Atkinson's 'Millie the Model'. He was also the editor of Quality Comics.
