Frans Piët worked for the Toonder studios and was affiliated with the magazine Stripfilm of Piet van Elk. He signed his comics work with Francis Paid or Charles F. C. Paid. For De Amsterdammer, he drew 'Joris Voetangel' with texts by Joop Elenbaas. Two books of this strip were published by Uitg. NV Strips (Boom-Ruygrok) in Haarlem around 1945. He produced 'Frank Jones' for Ketelbinkie-krant in April/December 1948. He took on the pen name Francis Paid to avoid confusion with the artist Frans Piët who drew 'Sjors van de Rebellenclub'.
