Comic strip by Gustavo Trigo.

Gustavo Trigo is the artist of the comic series 'La Guerra de los Antartes', written by Hector German Oesterheld for left-wing Noticias newspaper between 22 February and 3 August 1974. Four years earlier, a similar titled version had been launched by Oesterheld and Napoléon in the magazine 2001. 'La Guerra de los Antartes' continued the theme of Oesterheld's successful 'El Eternauta' series, about an alien invasion. However, 'La Guerra de los Antartes' also nodded to the political reality of Argentina. The comic ended when the Juan Perón government forbid further publication of magazine Noticias. Trigo has also illustrated episodes of Oesterheld's 'Sgt Kirk' series. Later in his career, Trigo started working for the Italian market, where he illustrated such series as 'Dylan Dog', 'Nick Raider' and 'Julia'. In the 1970s, he was also active for the British publishing company Fleetway, where he contributed to the boxing comic 'Blackjack', created by John Wagner and Leopoldo Sanchez Ortiz, published in Action Vol. 11 (14 February 1976). Other artists who worked on this comic were Josep Gual and Chris Lowder.
