August von Meissl was an Austrian illustrator, best known as an artist of military and animal scenes. He drew among others for Jugend. Together with Karl Pommerhanz, Lothar Meggendorfer and Victor Schramm, he was one of the German artists that went to work for The Chicago Tribune in 1906-07.
