Born in Barcelona, José Blanco Ibarz worked in a bank before turning to cartooning. He was part of the new generation of artists that renewed TBO magazine in the 1950s and 1960s, together with Ayné, Coll and Toledano. For several years, he illustrated numerous funny comics in the magazine, including his series 'Los Kakikus' (1963) and 'La Familia Ulises', which he took over from Benejam in 1968.
Blanco was additionally present in Garabatos during the 1950s with series like 'Patam Plaff' and 'El Loco Pericos'. After his retirement, he released the book 'La Barcelona de Blanco', collecting his illustrations and the many seasonal greeting cards he had drawn over the years, in 1993.
