Comic art by Santiago Duran

Santiago Durán studied art in Barcelona at the Escola Massana, Centre d'Art i Disseny (the School of Art and Design). He was an apprentice in the studios of Fulgencio Cabrerizo, Adolfo Usero, Joaquín Blazquez, Carlos Gimenez, Luís García Mozos, and others. From the 1970s, Durán worked for publishers like Editorial Vilmar, Editorial Petronio, and Grupo Zeta (with scripts by Gerardo Llobet), Editorial Amaika (with scripts by Gerardo Llobet), and Bastei Verlag in Germany.

He also worked for a number of humor magazines and comic books, including Muchas Gracias, El Papus, El Jueves, Mirate, HaraKiri, El Cuervo, Zombie, Escorpion, Panico, and Gespenster. Duran has created drawings and paintings for various Spanish TV State Channels contests, with scripts by Gerardo Llobet.

He has produced drawings, paintings, scripts and storyboards for various publicity agencies and design studios, including AMM Publicidad, Tiempo/BBDO, Vinizius/Young & Rubicam, BJT Comunicacion, SobreAtico Comercial Films, Dayax and others. He has also done a number of drawings and paintings for cultural and public institutions. Durán goes by the names Santi Durán, llumetis and Barretina.
