By 1969 he was hired by the Chicago Tribune and the New York News Syndicate to create a comic strip. This resulted in the 'Friday Foster' strip, about a young female photographer. 'Friday Foster' was written by Jim Lawrence and ran from 1970 to 1974. It was adapted into a feature film in 1975. Since then, Longarón has done many cover illustrations for American publications. He is also a fine artist, and specializes in painting the Catalan countryside, but also the American southwest.
