'Nosferatu 1838' (2025).

Luca Pozza is an Italian comic book artist and writer from Vicenza, and the editor of the independent imprint Self Press. He has worked for a variety of magazines, often from the Vicenza region, and is the author of the self-published graphic novels 'La Guera Granda' (2015), 'Laguna Hemingway' (2020), 'Huranio' (2023) and 'Nosferatu 1838' (2025). Since 2017, he has additionally worked on several 'Zagor'-related projects for Sergio Bonelli Editore. The author has released a couple of his early works under the name "Luca Pøzza".

Early life and career
Born in 1970, Luca Pozza grew up as an avid collector of comics, and as a teenager he visited legendary comic authors such as Hugo Pratt and Romano Scarpa. Between 1989 and 1991, he began his career as a contributor to Il Corriere Vicentino, a monthly magazine from the Vicenza region. In addition, he was one of the editors of Fanzine Comix. Pozza later worked as a graphic artist and began making comics professionally after encouragement from his friend Aldo Capitanio. During the mid-1990s, he worked as an inker with Capitanio on stories with the classic character 'Il Grande Blek' for Lo Scarabeo, notably the 'Avventura sul San Lorenzo' storyline (1994). He also assisted Capitanio with his work on the 'Storia d'Italia a Fumetti' series by Enzo Biagi for publisher Mondadori.

Solo comic creator and illustrator
Between 1996 and 2003, Pozza wrote and drew many comic stories for the magazine Il Messaggero dei Ragazzi. Among his other early clients were the publishing houses Hazard Edizioni ('Il Canto Della Terra', 2001) and Edizioni Polaris (an adventure of 'Nero Malsivoglia' with writer Cardinale-Nocilli). For the regional newspaper Il Giornale di Vicenza, he illustrated the centenary of Vicenza football in comics. In addition, Pozza illustrated covers for Realtà Vicentina and for several books by Editrice Veneta. Pozza has also worked as a storyboard artist for productions like 'Cortometraggi' by Lunghini and Pucci, and made drawings for 3D animations for Luna Park by commission of roller coaster manufacturer Zamperla.

By 2003, Luca Pozza got tired of the comic industry and left the medium for ten years, pursuing other interests. Between 2006 and 2009, he worked on a legend-meets-history novel called 'Noir', which received praise from Italian author Mario Rigano Stern. However, it took until 2016 before he self-published it under the title 'Noircissus' (Self Press, 2016).

20th century comic projects
Pozza's return to comics was marked by the self-proclaimed pulp comic book 'Bang Balls' (Shockdom, 2014), which he wrote for Danilo Antoniucci. A second volume appeared in 2019. Since 2015, Pozza has been collaborating with the publisher Jean-Marc Lofficier, drawing covers for the comics published by the Hexagon Comics imprint. With scriptwriter Sandro Arisa, Pozza developed and drew the adventures of 'Kolber', a comics project which was turned into a video presentation by Vincenzo Peluso, but otherwise remained unpublished. For director and producer Carlo Corbucci, he illustrated the e-book 'Nico, er Pirata'. He has also provided artwork to the collective book 'Amazoni' (2016) by Passenger Press.

La Guera Granda
After years of preparation, Pozza finished his solo graphic novel 'La Guera Granda' (2015), about the Battle of Asiago during the First World War. Released under his own imprint Self Press, the book had a preface by veteran comic artist Vittorio Giardino, and the cover illustration was painted by the author's friend Giorgio Trevisan. The book won him the City of Mestre Award, and blow-ups and original artwork of the comic has been exhibited in various Tuscan cities. 'La Guera Granda' was also used as the basis for a music video by the band Debojo.

Bonelli
In 2017, Pozza worked for the publishing house Sergio Bonelli Editore, penciling issue #4 of the spin-off mini series starring Cico, the cowardly but loyal sidekick of Bonelli's vigilante hero 'Zagor'. Written by Tito Faraci, the six-issue series 'Cico a Spasso nel Tempo' followed the character on his adventures through time and space. The other artists for the series were Walter Venturi, Giorgio Sommacal, Stefano Voltolini, Oskar and Giuliano Piccininno. In later years, Pozza has also penciled a couple of short stories with 'Zagor' himself for the anthology series 'I Racconti di Darkwood' (2019, 2021).

Self Press
After his debut graphic novel, Pozza continued to use his Self Press imprint for new releases, for instance his own prose novel 'Noircissus' (2016) and several comic books created by his friend Roberto Bonadimani: 'VerdeCaos' (2016). 'Il Destino dei Semidei' (2018) and 'Anyhia' (2021). With Bonadimani, Pozza collaborated on the script and artwork of the comic book 'La Porta del Sole' (2019), collecting short comic stories on which the two men had worked during the period 1998-2003. In addition, Luca Pozza collaborated as a writer with Giancarlo Tenenti on short horror comics, collected in the comic book 'Misery' (Self Press, 2018).

Graphic novels
During the 2020s, Luca Pozza has self-published several new solo graphic novels, starting with 'Laguna Hemingway' (Amazon/Self Press, 2020), in which Ernest Hemingway has a dreamlike trip among people and events from his past and present. The book was extensively reviewed in an essay by the American journalist Robert K. Elder, who took some of the book's original drawings on a promotional tour across the USA.

'Huranio' (2023).

Pozza's next graphic novel 'Huranio' (2023) was set in a post-apocalyptic world, in which all forms of civilization seem to have been lost, with the exception of the technology for a space mission to the exoplanet Huranio. In 2025, Pozza released 'Nosferatu 1838', a loose graphic novel adaptation of F.W. Murnau's expressionist 1922 film classic 'Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror'.

Comic specialist
Since 2016, Luca Pozza has collaborated with the online magazines Il Sestante News and the comics portal Lo Spazio Bianco, as well as the specialized comic news magazines Fumo di China and Il Fumetto. A collector of original drawings, he occasionally provides works for exhibitions and shows.
