Gordon Purcell has found particular success in the area of comics licensed from movies and TV. His work includes 'X-Files', 'Xena', 'Lost in Space', 'Godzilla', 'Young Indiana Jones', 'Barb Wire', 'Terminator', and others. 'Barb Wire' was released to co-incide with a live-action Hollywood film, 'Barb Wire' (1996), starring Pamela Anderson. Purcell is perhaps best known for his work on dozens of issues of DC's 'Star Trek' titles, he illustrated Star Trek Pocket Books and Star Trek coloring books.

Gordon has also penciled traditional super-hero fare for DC, Marvel and Image Comics, and handled art chores on a variety of other titles, including 'New Teen Titans', 'Flash' and guest pencils on 'Robin' and 'Aquaman'. Purcell has done the graphic novel series 'Kolchack: The Night Stalker' for Moonstone Books, as well as 'Soulsearchers' and 'Elvira'. Other artists who've drawn celebrity comics based on TV horror host Elvira have been Darren Auck, Eduardo Barreto, Mark Beachum, Dan Day, Louis Lachance, Cynthia Martin, Jim Mooney, Bob Oksner, Tom Simonton and Dan Spiegle .

Purcell has also worked on 'The Phantom' for Moonstone and 'Beyond the Wall' for IDW.
