'À Bord de l'Étoile Matutine'.
Riff Reb's, whose real name is Dominique Duprez, was born in Algeria, but moved to France during his childhood. In 1983, he collaborated on a collective album, 'Neuvième Cauchemar' and in that same year, he started an education in Decorative Arts. A year later, he founded the Asylum studios, where he was soon joined by fellow artists like Édith, Kisler, Cromwell, Ralph, Gonnort, Joe Ruffner and Karim. Together, these artists worked on 'Les Mondes Engloutis' ('Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea'), an animation series, which was adapted into comics format at the same time for Casterman (1985-1986).
'Myrtil Fauvette'.
Together with Cromwell, Édith and Ralph, Riff Reb's created two books of 'Sergeï Wladi' in 1987. Later on, he started his first series, 'Myrtil Fauvette', for which he did both art- and scriptwork from 1990 to 2005. In addition, he was present at the publisher Rackham with books like 'Dis Bonjour à la Dame' and 'Le Kid et Bergson'. From 1993 to 1996, he illustrated several small humorous books for La Sirene, containing themes like basketball, football, rock music and horses.
In 1990 he paid graphic tribute to François Walthéry in the collective homage book 'Natacha. Special 20 Ans' (Marsu Productions, 1990), which celebrated the 20th anniversary of Walthéry's series 'Natacha'. Together with 20 other comic artists (Zep, Ptiluc, Frank Margerin, Yslaire, Cosey, Philippe Vuillemin, Milo Manara, Loustal, Gilbert Shelton, Max Cabanes, Dupuy & Berberian, François Boucq, Gérald Poussin, Thomas Ott, Frank Pé, Frank Le Gall, Eric Buche, Enrico Marini and Valott) he illustrated a record single for the project '20 Vraies Fausses Pochettes De Disque Par 20 Vrais Dessinateurs de BD' (1995). Riff Reb's chose for a song by The Pretenders. He made a graphic contribution to the book 'Françaises, Français, Belges, Belges, Lecteur Chéri, Mon Amour' (Jungle!, 2005), in which comic artists illustrated short stories by comedian Pierre Desproges.
'Glam et Comet'.
For Albin Michel, he created the series 'Glam et Comet' in 2005 with Abuli, who was replaced by Corcal for the second book in 2007. New creations include the adaptation of Pierre Mac Orlan's satirical pirate book 'À bord de l'Étoile Matutine' for Soleil in 2009, which was followed by more stories from the sea in his series 'Le Loup des Mers' from 2012. In addition, he made the fairy tale 'La Carotte aux Étoiles' with Régis Lejonc for Éditions de la Gouttiére in 2010. With his dynamic graphics, Riff Reb's has established himself as one of the founding fathers of a new school of comic artists.
