Goofy, by Tello (Josep Tello Gonzalez)

Josep Tello Gonzalez is a Spanish agency artist who is best known for his comics starring Disney's 'Mickey Mouse' and 'Goofy'. Born in Barcelona, Tello began his career assisting his neighbour, the artist Boixcar, on his realistic comics. He went to London in 1966 and began an association with the Fleetway agency. He returned to Barcelona after only one year, but continued to work for Fleetway's collection of World War II comics for the rest of the 60s. He drew horror comics for Charlton during the same period.

Tello began his association with the Danish publishing house Gutenberghus (now Egmont) through Antonio Gil-Bao in 1971. He became the publisher's leading 'Mickey Mouse' and 'Goofy' artist in the 1970s, drawing a great many stories for the Danish Disney magazine Anders And & Co. An increasing demand for Disney comics led to the foundation of Tello Art in 1983. Tello assembled a large team of artists around him to draw stories, while he himself concentrated on posters, covers, games and promotional material.

Artists that have worked through Tello Art are Toni Bancells, Fernando Güell, Ignasi Calvet Estéban, Joaquín Cañizares Sanchez, José Colomer Fonts, Carlos Grangel, José Maria Millet Lopez, Juan Manuel Muñoz Chueca, Juan Torres Perez, Julio Antonio Ramos Poquí, Miguel Fernandez Martinez, Pedro Alférez Canos, Tino Santanach Hernandez and Xavier Vives Mateu.
