Willie Ito Jr. studied at Chouinard Art School in Los Angeles. He worked in the animation field for a long time. Ito was an inbetweener at Disney on 'Lady and the Tramp', worked as a layout artist on Warner Bros' 'Bugs Bunny' cartoons between 1955 and 1961, and then became a layout artist on many Hanna-Barbera cartoons until 1977.

During the 1960s, he drew comic stories starring Hanna-Barbera characters, and comics based on Bob Clampett's 'Beany and Cecil' TV series, for Western Publishing. Ito has furthermore worked with Selby Kelly on the 'Pogo' strip in 1974-75, and on cartoons and comics for Car-Toons Magazine in the 1960s.
He was a staff artist at the comic strip and consumer products departments of the Walt Disney Company from 1976 to 1997. He did pencils on several special Christmas stories for newspapers, starring Disney movie characters like 'Peter Pan' (1977, 1983-85), and assisted Sparky Moore on the 'Winnie the Pooh' newspaper strip in the 1980s. He also returned to animation, as a layout artist on TV series like 'The Wuzzles' and 'Gummi Bears'. He retired in 1999.
