Monsieur Wens, by Rali

Raoul Livain, who signs with Rali, was one of the first local artists working for the Belgian comics magazine Bravo!. He was hired by editor Jean Dratz in 1942 when the American comics had to be replaced during the war. He was the author of a comic adaptation of Stanislas André Steeman's 'Monsieur Wens', and of 'Morgana'. After the Liberation, he founded an art studios with Tenas, that was soon joined by newcomers like Tibet and André Paul Duchateau.

The studios produced several new stories for Bravo! to succeed the original local production by Laudy, Jacobs, Vandersteen and Sirius. These stories included 'Cyprien Bravo', 'Phill Blue-Eyes' and 'Capitaine Hardell', among others. Rali and Tenas, accompanied by Duchateau, also made 'Le Triangle de Feu' for Spirou magazine in 1952 (signing with D'Aisin). The studios subsequently collaborated to the launch of the Belgian Disney studios, that produced comics and illustrations for Le Journal de Mickey.
