In 1956, Bolling created the 'Little Archie' comic, starring younger versions of the classic Archie characters, such as Jughead, Betty, Veronica, and of course Archie himself. He also created a score of new characters, including the villain Mad Doctor Doom. The title even got a couple of spin-offs of its own, such as 'Little Archie in Animal Land' and 'Little Archie Mystery Comics'. He worked on the comic full-time until 1965, drawing both comedy and adventure stories, when his assistant Dexter Taylor took over.

Bolling then moved over to the regular series, and continued to work on titles like 'Archie's Pals and Gals' and 'Archie and Me', but also on 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch'. He has continued to draw comic stories for Archie Comics digests to this day, although well into his 80s. In 1984-85, he additionally drew 'Wally the Wizard' for Marvel.
